Draft Regional Trail Network
Based on the results of the gap analysis and needs assessment, the MIG Team will develop a draft regional trail network. The network will include both point to point connections and trail loops of varying length and character. Locations requiring crossing improvements will also be identified.
Draft Design Standards
The MIG Team will develop design standards for three trail classifications and three trailhead types that follow State and Federal rules and guidelines. Trails will be depicted in cross-section, and trailheads will be depicted in plan view.
Trail Amenities Catalog
MIG will develop a catalog of safety improvements and user amenities for consideration as standard treatments. This catalog would review recommended treatments, including crossings, bollards, benches, trash receptacles, restrooms, and user controls.
Review and Refinement
MIG will provide the Draft Trail Network Map, Design Standards and Guidelines, and Trail Amenities Catalog for review at an in-person PMT meeting. Based on PMT feedback, MIG will refine these three components.
Cost Projections
MIG will develop cost projections based on per linear foot construction for each trail classification, and cost projections for each trailhead type. Costs will be projected in 2008 dollars for the draft regional trail network. Additionally, MIG will develop a list of typical construction projects associated with trail development such as stream crossings and bridges, and list the desired characteristics for each based on trail classification.
Prioritization Criteria
MIG will develop criteria for prioritizing trail improvements.
Public Involvement Model
MIG will develop a public involvement model for trail implementation. The model will spell out a procedure for involving the public in implementing trail improvement projects and will build upon previous public involvement models the County has developed.
Plan Framework Summary Report
MIG will prepare a report identifying the proposed regional trail network, design standards and guidelines, priorities, public involvement model, and draft policies for inclusion in the Plan. MIG will submit this report for review through the project website. Reviewers will provide one round of comments via email or fax. Reviewer feedback will be incorporated into the Administrative Draft of the Regional Trails Plan.
